La palabra como lenguaje artístico. Prácticas textuales en México is a first approach to the study of practices whose formal resolution involves the word in artistic production in Mexico. Conformed as a cartography that spans the 20th century to the second decade of the 21st century, it documents the ways and contexts in which more than 60 artists of different generations have worked the textual strategy, either through the pictorial, sculptural, installation and action disciplines; reflecting on social, media, political and poetic situations.
In this journey where the legible and the visual exchange their own languages, Hernández Viramontes provides an overview of how the word has become one of the most frequent aesthetic discourses in contemporary art, in order to initiate a dialogue that makes the written word visible as an artistic language.
